Here are some poems that we have collected.

Hannah:

Love A Child

A Hundred Years From Now

...it will not matter what my bank account was,

...the sort of house I lived in,

or the kind of car I drove...

...but the world may be different

because I was important in the life of a child.

Merry Christmas (2002), Hannah -
Grandma and Grandpa Harley

GrandPa

He is there
always
patiently waiting
to kiss away my tears
and fix broken toys
and teach me to ride without training wheels
He is smart
smarter than anyone
and he always knows
the answers to my questions
No matter how many times I ask him
He is fun
and knows
so many games
that no one ever heard of before
like "super hero space alien fire rescue tigers"
He is good
and helps people
especially little people
who need lots of help
Even when he gets in trouble with Grandma
He is love
He gives it
without question
or expectations
Just because he is my Grandpa

Grand-Mothers

Grand-Mothers kiss little boo boos
And try to fix big ones
They never run out of hugs
never too busy to listen
even if you told the story a hundred times before
They have stories to tell too
of long ago
The real history of ordinary people
you won't find in books
They are our cheer leaders
When we win
and even when we lose
No child is a looser in a Grand-Mothers Eyes
